Appearance: Dark orange, almost ruby red.
Nose: Extremely estery (fermented fruit), with coffee, cola, white pepper and black tea.
Palate: Soft, chewy, with a sweetness that’s partly masked by the aromatic notes of medicinal herbs (chamomile, small gentian), liquorice, pepper and wood. Warm, slightly smoky and phenolic.
Finish: Getting slowly spicier, deeper, with more notes of coffee, liquorice and herbal liqueur, and even a winey feeling like in Barolo Chinato.
Comment: Definitely ripe, complex and satisfying. A very balanced rum, dark and intense, in which the aromatic components perfectly balance the background sweetness. Finished for the last eight years in Oloroso sherry casks.
