German Rumfest Berlin 2017

German Rumfest Berlin 2017

Jamaica takes Berlin by storm

For the seventh edition of Rumfest in Berlin, probably the biggest European fair dedicated to this very trendy distillate that is getting more and more appreciated by connoisseurs, Rum Nation has not been idle and has introduced several absolute new entries in its catalogue. Big acclaim from the visitors has been given to the newly released rums from the isle of Madeira, initially introduced in two versions: a fresh white rum in the standard line-up, and a prestigious 2009 bottling from Engenho Novo distillery.

Once again, this year during the show the German Rum Awards were held: a competition organized by some of the most esteemed European rum experts, who tasted blindly all the submitted rums. Previous editions saw Rum Nation win several awards (in 2016, two gold medals), and this year our bottlings have triumphed once again!

Rum Nation Jamaica 5yo Oloroso Sherry Finish - Rel. 2016

Jamaica 5yo Oloroso Sherry Finish once again, like last year, has won the GOLD MEDAL as best rum with a “finish” (second aging period in a special cask).

Rum Nation Jamaica White Pot Still - Rel. 2015

The prize that makes us even prouder, though, because it went to a product in which we have strongly believed from the first moment in spite of it being a “difficult” rum, is the GOLD MEDAL for Best of The Show awarded to Rum Nation Jamaica White Pot Still.

Too bad that our new rums from Madeira, while available for tasting at the fair, didn’t meet the early deadline for submission to the Awards… or we would have probably got a triplet! We are anyway very happy that two of our Jamaican rums have received these awards, as a confirmation that the world of rum aficionados is increasingly going towards intense, characterful and complex rums.

Thanks again to the jurors of the German Rum Awards, and to the excellent organization of Rumfest, and see you there next year!
